Information

Silver Krugerrand coin from 2023 or 2024

This coin is struck in 1 troy ounce (31.103 grams) of pure silver (99.9%) and is attractively priced. The South African Mint has been issuing this coin since 2017 as an alternative to customary silver investment coins from Europe and the United States. Due to the large circulation in which the South African Mint brings out this new coin, the premium is also comparable to other usual investment coins, making this relatively young silver coin an interesting option for the investor in physical silver.

Paul Kruger

Both the name and the design of the silver Krugerrand are derived from the former president of South Africa: Paul Kruger. Paul Kruger was president from 1883 to 1900, and before his presidency he was an important 'Farmer' during the first Farmers War. His legacy is still visible in South Africa, and the Krugerrand is one of the most famous memories of the fifth president of South Africa.

Design 1 troy ounce silver Krugerrand

On the obverse of the coin, the text KRUGERRAND is displayed at the top with an image of a springbok. The year is also shown in two parts, and at the bottom of the coin you can find the text FYNSILWER 1 OZ FINE SILVER.

On the reverse of the silver Krugerrand coin, the same design is used as with the gold variant: an image of Paul Kruger, the former president of South Africa. The text SUD AFRIKA – SOUTH AFRICA can also be found.
