Information
1 Troy ounce silver Krugerrand coin
Since 2017, the South African Mint has been striking the 1 troy ounce silver Krugerrand coin. This coin is struck in 1 troy ounce (31.103 grams) of pure silver (99.9%) and is competitively priced. We buy these coins from previous years from private individuals and can therefore offer them at a reduced rate compared to the new silver Krugerrand coins. All silver coins we sell are of course checked for authenticity, weight and content. In the past, Krugerrand coins were only issued in gold. The first gold coin was struck by The South African Mint as early as 1967. Since then, it has become one of the most popular and most traded coin types worldwide. Unlike the gold version, the silver Krugerrand is issued in a grade of 99.9% pure silver. This makes the weight and grade of these Krugerrand coins equal to other common silver investment coins. Due to the large edition in which the South African Mint issues this silver coin, the premium is comparable to other investment coins. This makes it an interesting option if you want to invest in physical silver.
Design silver Krugerrand
Obverse
On the obverse of the coin, the text Krugerrand is displayed at the top with an image of a springbok, the national symbol of South Africa. The year in which the coin was struck is also mentioned and at the bottom of the coin the text "Fynsilwer 1 oz fine silver" is displayed. By using innovative laser technology, the dies have been digitally enhanced. This brings out details and shadow effects that were not previously well visible on the Krugerrand coin.
Reverse
On the reverse of the silver Krugerrand coin, the same design is used as with the gold version; an image of Paul Kruger with the text "Sud Afrika - South Africa". Paul Kruger was president of South Africa from 1883 to 1900 and the most prominent ‘Farmer’ during the Farmer Wars.

Investment score
This product has an A-label (Our top 100 products). This means that it is one of our most common products. When purchasing physical precious metals, we recommend looking at both the lowest price per gram and the lowest spread. The spread indicates the difference between the buying and selling price. An A-label means this is a favorable choice when buying gold and silver.
Label informationInvestment score: An A-label means that this is one of our most common products. When purchasing physical precious metals, we advise looking at both the lowest price per gram and the lowest spread. The spread indicates the difference between the buying and selling price. An A-label signifies that this is a favorable choice when buying gold and silver.
Investment score: A B-label means that this is a common coin or bar, which is widely tradable worldwide. However, a product with this label is more expensive than a product with an A-label, so as an investment in physical gold and silver, this product is not the most cost-effective choice.
Investment score: A C-label means that this is a less favorable investment choice compared to a product with a higher investment score. Products with a C-label are considered collectibles.
