Design of the 1 troy ounce silver Kangaroo coin
On the obverse of the coin is a running kangaroo, this design is similar to the design of the original gold coin from 1990, also known as the gold Nugget. Around the edge are the words AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO, the P of The Perth Mint, the year of issue and the silver content 1 oz 9999 SILVER.
On the reverse of the silver Kangaroo coin is an image of Queen Elizabeth II - designed by Jody Clark - shown. The coin names the queen as ELIZABETH II, but also the country of issue AUSTRALIA and the nominal value 1 DOLLAR. The silver Kangaroo coins feature a security emblem, located at the first A in Australia. This security feature changes annually to ensure the authenticity of the silver coin.
