Information

Gold kangaroo coins from various years

The gold Kangaroo coins are minted in the highest possible gold content of 99.99% pure gold and weigh 1 troy ounce, or 31.103 grams. The Australian Mint, The Perth Mint, has been issuing these gold coins since 1990 with a yearly changing design featuring a kangaroo. These gold coins are popular among investors due to the high gold content and among collectors due to the new design each time.

In the early years of the Kangaroo coin, it underwent a name change. This gold investment coin was originally known as the Australian Nugget, but was later renamed as the Australian Kangaroo. The name change was intended to increase the international recognition of the coin. The kangaroo is one of the most iconic symbols of Australia, and the coin makers hoped that the use of this animal would make the coin more appealing to buyers worldwide.

Design of the gold kangaroo

On this side of the coin, the text AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO, the year of issue, the gold content of the coin 1 oz 9999 GOLD and the p of The Perth Mint are also displayed.

Reverse

The reverse of the gold Kangaroo coins shows a depiction of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark. The queen is visible in detail, this is clearly visible in the hair of the queen. Around her at the edge of the coin her name ELIZABETH II, the country of issue AUSTRALIA and the face value of the coin 100 DOLLARS are inscribed.

Investing in gold coins

When purchasing gold, you have the choice of various gold bars and gold coins. The most common gold investment coins are minted in 1 troy ounce pure gold, like the gold Kangaroo. Gold bars and gold coins with a high gold content are traded as investment gold. This means that no 21% VAT needs to be paid when purchasing these gold investment products.

The gold coins from previous years are bought from individuals and therefore often priced more competitively than the gold coins purchased directly from the mint. As a result, the spread, the difference between the selling price and the gold price, is smaller. You therefore receive more gold for your money. The 1 troy ounce gold Kangaroo coin is therefore especially popular among gold investors.

Label information
Investment-score: A-label

Investment score: An A-label means that this is one of our most common products. When purchasing physical precious metals, we advise looking at both the lowest price per gram and the lowest spread. The spread indicates the difference between the buying and selling price. An A-label signifies that this is a favorable choice when buying gold and silver.

Investment-score: B-label

Investment score: A B-label means that this is a common coin or bar, which is widely tradable worldwide. However, a product with this label is more expensive than a product with an A-label, so as an investment in physical gold and silver, this product is not the most cost-effective choice.

Investment-score: C-label

Investment score: A C-label means that this is a less favorable investment choice compared to a product with a higher investment score. Products with a C-label are considered collectibles.
