Information

1 troy ounce gold Britannia coin

The Britannia gold investment coins combine elegance and security within the iconic design. The safety features that The Royal Mint has added to its Britannia coins make them very difficult to counterfeit.

Since 1987, the gold Britannia coins have been issued by the British Mint House The Royal Mint. In 1997, the mint house added the silver variant to its range and since 2018, a platinum variant has also been available.

Each gold Britannia coin contains 1 troy ounce (31.103 grams) of pure gold. Until 2012, the coin was struck in 22 carat (91.6% pure). These coins are therefore a little heavier and weigh 34.05 grams. From 2013, the gold Britannia coin is struck in 24 carat gold (99.99% pure) and the coin weighs 31.103 grams.

In addition to the 1 troy ounce variant, the mint house also produces other sizes such as the 1/2 troy ounce, 1/4 troy ounce and 1/10 troy ounce gold Britannia. The 1 troy ounce gold Britannia coin is a good choice for investors looking for a safe and reliable investment in gold.

Reverse

The reverse of the coin displays the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on coins originating from the years up to and including 2022. On coins from the year 2023, both Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III are shown.

Gold Britannia from previous years

The circulated version of the Britannia coin from various years is a coin that has already been in circulation. These coins are often a bit cheaper than uncirculated coins. The production costs are no longer included in the price of coins from previous years; these have been calculated at the first purchase. This means that they receive proportionally more gold for their money when purchasing these coins.

All gold Britannia coins that we sell are checked for authenticity, weight and content. The value of gold Britannia coins is determined by the current gold price and not by the year in which they were minted.

An A-label means this is a favorable choice when buying gold and silver.

Label information
Investment-score: A-label

Investment score: An A-label means that this is one of our most common products. When purchasing physical precious metals, we advise looking at both the lowest price per gram and the lowest spread. The spread indicates the difference between the buying and selling price. An A-label signifies that this is a favorable choice when buying gold and silver.

Investment-score: B-label

Investment score: A B-label means that this is a common coin or bar, which is widely tradable worldwide. However, a product with this label is more expensive than a product with an A-label, so as an investment in physical gold and silver, this product is not the most cost-effective choice.

Investment-score: C-label

Investment score: A C-label means that this is a less favorable investment choice compared to a product with a higher investment score. Products with a C-label are considered collectibles.
