Platinum Kangaroo coin
The new platinum Kangaroo coin is minted by The Perth Mint since 2018. This coin has the same design as the silver Kangaroo. This popular platinum coin is minted in 99,95% pure platinum and has a special authentication feature incorporated in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter, only visible with a magnifying glass. This makes the coin a lot harder to counterfeit.
The platinum coin Kangaroo 2024 is delivered in an airtight capsule to protect the coin against possible damages. Per 20 pieces, the coins are delivered in a sealed roll.

Design platinum Kangaroo coin
Obverse
On the obverse side of the coin is every year a similar design used of the popular 1990 golden kangaroo, also known as the gold Nugget. A large jumping kangaroo in the midst of sunbeams. On the rim are the words "AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO", the "P" of The Perth Mint, the year of issue and the platinum content “1 oz 9999 PLATINUM” shown.
Reverse
The reverse of the platinum Kangaroo coin features an effigy of King Charles III. This effigy was designed by Dan Thorne. This side of the coin also clearly displays the issuing country "AUSTRALIA" and the face value "100 DOLLARS".
Circulation
The 1 troy ounce platinum coin has a unlimited circulation during the year. At the end of the year the production is stopped and a definitive circulation will be given. Therefore, it is never known in advance how many Kangaroo platinum coins of a certain year will come into circulation.
