This 1 troy ounce silver coin Lunar 2023 gilded is an exceptional collectible coin struck in 99.99% pure silver and is part of The Lunar III series by Australian mint The Perth Mint. The Lunar III coins are issued over a 12-year period, with the ever-changing design based each year on one of the animals from the Chinese zodiac calendar.

Design
The coin's obverse shows two cute rabbits. The gold-plated rabbits are sitting in the grass and one of them is trying to eat berries from the branch. Ing Ing Jong's design is characterised by its many details, for example, the rabbits' fur is clearly visible. The small "p", the sign of The Perth Mint and the Chinese sign for rabbit are also shown on this side of the coin.
The reverse side of the coin features a beautiful effigy of Her Majesty King Elizabeth II. This effigy was designed by Jody Clark. Surrounding Queen Elizabeth II are the face value of the coin "1 DOLLAR", the weight "1 OZ", the silver content "9999 Ag" and the name of the monarch.
Lunar collector coins & the Chinese zodiac
The Perth Mint's Lunar collectible coins are based on the Chinese zodiac calendar and the great Chinese race. This zodiac consists of 12 animals and every 12 years this calendar repeats. 2023 is in the sign of the rabbit. According to Chinese legend, each animal influences the personality of people born in the year of that animal. According to the legend, people born in the year of the rabbit are intelligent and creative.
The Perth Mint is currently publishing its third Lunar series. Following the success of the first two series, Lunar III was launched in 2020. Each year, a new series of coins will be released featuring one of the animals from the Chinese zodiac.
