Information

Gold 1 troy ounce Lunar 2023 coin

The 1 troy ounce gold Lunar 2023 coin is a beautiful and valuable asset for any collector. The coin is struck in 999.9‰ pure gold and has a diameter of 32 mm. The design is based on the Chinese year of the rabbit.

The Chinese zodiac

The Lunar collectible coins from The Perth Mint are based on the Chinese zodiac calendar. This zodiac consists of 12 animals and every 12 years this calendar is repeated. 2023 is in the sign of the rabbit.

According to Chinese legend, the animal of the year of birth influences people's personality. People born in the year of the rabbit, according to legend, are intelligent and creative.

Obverse

The obverse of each gold Lunar III coin 2023 is the same. At the centre of Ing Ing Jong's design is a beautifully depicted rabbit. The rabbit with its particularly detailed fur playfully jumps in various types of grass. To make the connection with the Chinese zodiac clear, the text "RABBIT 2023" combined with the Chinese sign for rabbit has been added to the design. Nor should the "P" of The Perth Mint be missing from the design.

Reverse

The reverse side of the gold Lunar 1 troy ounce coin shows several inscriptions in addition to the image of Queen Elizabeth II - designed by Jody Clark. For instance, the coin's weight "1 oz", gold content "9999 Au" and face value "100 DOLLARS" are clearly visible. The text "ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA" can also be read.

Authenticity Mark

There is an authenticity mark found on this 1 troy ounce gold coin. A letter has been engraved into the coin with microlaser, which is only visible under a magnifying glass. This makes forging the coin considerably more difficult.

The coin comes in a clear acrylic coin capsule. This capsule protects the coin from scratches and damage.
