Information

1/4 troy ounce gold St. George and the Dragon 2024

The newest addition to The Royal Mint's assortment is the 1/4 troy ounce gold St. George and the Dragon 2024. This coin is struck in 24-karat gold (999.9/1000 pure) and weighs 7.77585 grams. The coin is part of a new series dedicated to the timeless story of St. George and the Dragon - a classic symbol of victory over evil and deeply rooted in British culture and heraldry.

According to legend, for years a village was terrorized by a dragon that demanded sacrifices. When a princess was identified as the next victim, the brave knight St. George intervened. He saved the princess and killed the monster with his lance - a heroic act beautifully captured in the design of this coin.

The coin's design was created by Jody Clark, known for his previous work for The Royal Mint. He depicts St. George on horseback as he thrusts his lance deep into the dragon's body. The obverse shows the official portrait of King Charles III, created by Martin Jennings.

Investment score

A B-rating indicates products that are still widely recognized and tradable worldwide, often issued by reputable mints or refiners. However, the price per gram or spread is generally slightly higher compared to A-rated products. While still suitable for investment purposes, they are not the most cost-efficient option available.

Label information
A-label

Products with an A-rating are among the most commonly traded and liquid options available. These coins and bars offer a strong balance between a competitive price per gram and a low spread, making them well-suited for investors who want to acquire physical gold or silver efficiently. Due to their global recognition, they are typically easy to buy and sell.

B-label

C-label

Products with a C-rating are primarily valued for their collectible characteristics. This may include limited editions, unique designs, or historical significance. As a result, their price is often less closely tied to the underlying metal value. These products are typically chosen by collectors rather than investors focused on efficiency.
