Information

American Eagle 1/4 troy ounce gold 2024

Gold American Eagle coins are extremely popular worldwide as investment coins, making them highly tradable. These are newly minted coins, from the year 2024. The coin's popularity is partly due to its history. The American Eagle was the first American investment coin to be minted to trade for its gold value.

These gold American Eagle coins are minted in 22-karat gold, have a diameter of 22mm and contain a weight of 7.77 grams (1/4 troy ounce) pure gold. Because the coins are alloyed with copper among other things, this coin is heavier than most gold coins of 1/4 troy ounce. The addition of copper makes the coin less vulnerable than pure gold coins.

Since 1986, the American Eagle coins had the same design, but in 2021 the eagle was redesigned for the first time. The many details and beautiful images give the American Eagle coin a beautiful appearance.

Obverse

The obverse of the American Eagle coin features the image of Lady Liberty. The design of Lady Liberty on the American Eagle coin is based on the iconic design created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens for Roosevelt's inauguration medal. Above Lady Liberty is the inscription LIBERTY and below her to the right is the year the coin was minted.

Reverse

The reverse of the American Eagle coin shows an eagle. This has been the national symbol of the United States since 1782. Designed by Jennie Norris, the eagle contains beautiful details that make the bird stand out impressively. Surrounding the eagle are inscriptions such as face value 10 DOLLARS, weight 1/4 OZ. FINE GOLD, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, the unofficial motto of the US E PLURIBUS UNUM and IN GOD WE TRUST.

Introduction of the 'Gold Bullion Act'

Before it was first circulated in 1986, the 'Gold Bullion Act' was approved in 1985 to make the impending coin one of the leading investment coins. This law also guaranteed that the coin could only be made from domestic gold.

Thanks to this law, the coin also received its own nominal value, allowing it to be used as legal tender in America. This means that American government institutions accept the coin, although it is often not accepted in stores.

Label information
Investment-score: A-label

Investment score: An A-label means that this is one of our most common products. When purchasing physical precious metals, we advise looking at both the lowest price per gram and the lowest spread. The spread indicates the difference between the buying and selling price. An A-label signifies that this is a favorable choice when buying gold and silver.

Investment-score: B-label

Investment score: A B-label means that this is a common coin or bar, which is widely tradable worldwide. However, a product with this label is more expensive than a product with an A-label, so as an investment in physical gold and silver, this product is not the most cost-effective choice.

Investment-score: C-label

Investment score: A C-label means that this is a less favorable investment choice compared to a product with a higher investment score. Products with a C-label are considered collectibles.
