Information
Golden Maple Leaf of 1/4 troy ounce
The golden Maple Leaf of 1/4 troy ounce is one of the most popular series of gold coins in the world. This gold coin is minted in the high gold content of 99.99% and is highly sought after by investors in physical gold. Due to its relatively small size, this coin is also ideal for diversifying an investment portfolio.
The Gold Maple Leaf has been issued for many years by the highly respected mint The Royal Canadian Mint. Since 2024, King Charles II has been featured on the Gold Maple Leaf coins. Steven Rosati's design shows King Charles II looking to the left. It is a tradition that British monarchs alternately look to the other side. This has been continued in the design of all coins featuring an effigy of King Charles II.
Design of the 1/4 troy ounce golden Maple Leaf
Obverse
The obverse of the Golden Maple Leaf of 1/4 troy ounce shows a maple leaf, the national symbol of Canada. Above the leaf is the text CANADA, on both sides 9999, the gold content of the coin and at the bottom is FINE GOLD and 1/4 OZ OR PUR.
Reverse
The reverse of the coin shows the effigy of King Charles III. Surrounding the portrait is the name of the king, the face value of the coin and the year of issue 2025.
Security features of the golden Maple Leaf
The Royal Canadian Mint has added various security features to its 1/4 troy ounce golden Maple Leaf coins. These features make it more difficult to completely counterfeit the coins and in addition, forgeries are also easier to recognize by the absence of the security features.
The features are to be found on both the obverse and the reverse of the coin:
- Advanced micro-engraved security markings, which are barely perceptible to the naked eye, are directly incorporated into the coin's design.
- Radial lines varying in width and depth not only add a layer of complexity and beauty to the design, but are also incredibly difficult to replicate.

Investment score
Products with an A-rating are among the most commonly traded and liquid options available. These coins and bars offer a strong balance between a competitive price per gram and a low spread, making them well-suited for investors who want to acquire physical gold or silver efficiently. Due to their global recognition, they are typically easy to buy and sell.

Due to their global recognition, they are typically easy to buy and sell.
Products with a C-rating are primarily valued for their collectible characteristics. This may include limited editions, unique designs, or historical significance. As a result, their price is often less closely tied to the underlying metal value. These products are typically chosen by collectors rather than investors focused on efficiency.
