The British mint The Royal Mint has been producing the gold 1/2 troy ounce Britannia since 1987, which has made it an icon among gold coins. The gold Britannia of 1/2 troy ounce has the highest purity (99.99%), weighs 15.55 grams, and has a diameter of 27 mm. The 1/2 troy ounce has a compact size and is also more affordable than the 1 troy ounce version.Over the years, various images of Queen Elizabeth II have been on the reverse of the coin, each with its own design and age of the queen. Since 2023, King Charles III has been depicted on the reverse of these gold coins.

Obverse

Reverse
On the reverse side of the coin is added the portrait of King Charles. Around the effigy is the monarch's name along with the inscription D.G REX F.D. This stands for "dei gratia rex"(by the grace of god). Also on this side is the face value of 50 POUNDS shown.
