Design of the silver Grizzly Bear coin
Obverse
Designed by Emily Damstra, the obverse depicts a growling grizzly bear on a rock point or cliff surrounded by towering conifers. Also on the obverse is the inscription ED - the initials of coin designer Emily Damstra.
Reverse
The reverse shows the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Susanna Blunt. Around it are the inscriptions 1952 - 2022 - the years of her reign, ELIZABETH II - the queen's name, CANADA 2023 - the country and year of issue, 20 DOLLARS - the face value and D. G. REGINA - the Latin abbreviation for "in God's grace, queen."
