Buying a 15-gram gold coin
Gold coins of 15 grams have a similar weight to the 1/2 troy ounce gold coins. The 1/2 troy ounce coins are just slightly heavier at 15.55 grams. Most 15-gram gold coins issued are collector coins from the China Gold Coin Corporation. This mint issues its gold panda coins in five nonstandard weights.
Gold panda coins are an official issue of the People's Republic of China. As such, the coins have legal tender status in China and the face value is displayed on the front of the coin. Also shown here is the weight and the designation Au .999 indicating that the 15-gram gold panda coin was struck in 99.9% pure gold.
