Information

Golden Maple Leaf 2023

The gold Maple Leaf 2023 is the most popular gold coin in the world and the official bullion coin from Canada. All gold Maple Leaf coins come with advanced security features and are highly marketable worldwide.

Year 2023 is the latest issue of gold Maple Leaf coins, which features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This 2003 portrait of Queen Elizabeth was created by Susanne Blunt as a fourth-generation effigy, missing the crown. The reverse of the coin reads 1952-2022 commemorating Queen Elizabeth II's 70-year reign.

The reverse side shows the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. You can see below the portrait the face value of 50 Canadian Dollars and the year of issue 2023. On the left side of this special edition, it says 1952-2022. This is the last edition with the image of Queen Elizabeth II.

Security features of the gold Maple Leaf

The Royal Canadian Mint has integrated several protective elements into its 1 troy ounce gold Maple Leaf coins. These elements complicate the complete reproduction of the coins and also make it easier to identify counterfeits due to the lack of these protective features.

The features can be found on both the front and back of the coin:
  • Advanced micro-engraved security markings, subtle to the naked eye, are incorporated directly into the coin design.
  • Radial lines of varying widths and depths not only enrich the design with an additional layer of complexity and aesthetics, but are also extremely difficult to recreate.

Investment score

This product has a B-label (Common bullion coins and bars). This means that it is a common coin or bar that is easily tradable worldwide. However, a product with this label is more expensive than a product with an A-label, so as an investment in physical gold and silver, this product is not the most cost-effective choice. Examples of coins with a B-label are coins with a lower mintage.

Label information
Investment-score: A-label

Investment score: An A-label means that this is one of our most common products. When purchasing physical precious metals, we advise looking at both the lowest price per gram and the lowest spread. The spread indicates the difference between the buying and selling price. An A-label signifies that this is a favorable choice when buying gold and silver.

Investment-score: B-label

Investment score: A B-label means that this is a common coin or bar, which is widely tradable worldwide. However, a product with this label is more expensive than a product with an A-label, so as an investment in physical gold and silver, this product is not the most cost-effective choice.

Investment-score: C-label

Investment score: A C-label means that this is a less favorable investment choice compared to a product with a higher investment score. Products with a C-label are considered collectibles.
