The latest edition of the Perth Mint is the 1/2 Troy ounce (15.55 grams) silver coin of the Lunar Series. In the Lunar series every year a different animal is at the center of the design and in 2020 the mouse will be next. This is the first volume of the Lunar III series. Silver Lunar coins are always very popular with investors and collectors of silver coins.
The Perth Mint stores these silver coins in beautiful BU (Brilliantly Uncirculated) condition and packages all coins individually in a protective coin capsule. This keeps the coins in good condition and the silver remains unaffected. The silver content of the coin is 99.99%, which means that the silver Lunar, like many other coins, is minted in the highest possible amount of pure silver.
On the front of the coin are two mice that are gnawing on corn cobs. The Chinese sign of the year of the mouse is also prominently depicted with the word 'Mouse' and the year of issue (2020).
Queen Elizabeth II is depicted on the reverse of the coin. Since the silver Lunar coin is legal tender in Australia, or at least has that status and is normally not used for this, it should always be indicated for this type of coin what the face value is. That is why the following texts are also mentioned: Elizabeth II Australia - 1 oz 9999 ag 50 cents. The coins are issued in Australia and the value as payment is expressed in Australian Dollars.
In addition to the 1/2 Troy ounce silver Lunar coin, the Lunar of 2020 is also available in other sizes. The silver version is beaten in 1 troy ounce, 2 troy ounces, 5 and 10 troy ounces and 1 kilogram. The kilogram variant is especially popular among investors because it is a relatively cheap way to buy silver. In addition to the silver Lunars, the Perth Mint also has several sizes of gold available. With the gold coin, however, a different design was chosen than with the silver coin. The coin house often does this in order to respond to the different tastes of collectors of silver and gold coins.
