Information
1/10 troy ounce gold American Eagle coin
This gold coin is minted in 1/10 troy ounce (3.11 grams) of pure gold. The coin is made from 22-karat gold (91.67% purity) and is issued by the United States Mint. It has a diameter of 16.5 millimeters. The American Eagle coins have featured the same design since 1986, but in 2021, the eagle was reimagined for the first time, and the U.S. Mint has permanently adopted this new design. The many details and beautiful images give the American Eagle coin, even before the design change, an appealing appearance.
The gold American Eagle coin is especially popular in the United States. Its popularity is partly due to its history as the first American gold coin minted to be traded for its gold value.
Design 1/10 troy ounce gold Eagle coin
Obverse
The obverse of the American Eagle coin features the image of Lady Liberty. The design of Lady Liberty on the American Eagle coin is based on the iconic design created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens for Roosevelt's inauguration medal. Below Lady Liberty on the right is the year the coin was struck and above her is the inscription LIBERTY.
Reverse
The reverse of the American Eagle coin depicts an eagle. The eagle contains beautiful details that make the bird stand out impressively. Surrounding the eagle are the inscriptions 1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD the weight of the gold, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA the country of issue, 5 DOLLARS the face value and the American mottoes: IN GOD WE TRUST and E PLURIBUS UNUM out of many one.
‘Gold Bullion Act’
Before the coin was first issued in 1986, the ‘Gold Bullion Act’ was passed in 1985. This act stated that the coin could only be minted with domestic gold. The coin was also given its own face value, allowing it to be used as legal tender in America. This means that US government agencies accept the coin, although it will often not be accepted in a shop. The face value of the 1/10 troy ounce gold American Eagle is $5.

Investment score
This product has a B-label (Common bullion coins and bars). This means that it is a common coin or bar that is easily tradable worldwide. However, a product with this label is more expensive than a product with an A-label, so as an investment in physical gold and silver, this product is not the most cost-effective choice. Examples of coins with a B-label are coins with a lower mintage.
Label informationInvestment score: An A-label means that this is one of our most common products. When purchasing physical precious metals, we advise looking at both the lowest price per gram and the lowest spread. The spread indicates the difference between the buying and selling price. An A-label signifies that this is a favorable choice when buying gold and silver.
Investment score: A B-label means that this is a common coin or bar, which is widely tradable worldwide. However, a product with this label is more expensive than a product with an A-label, so as an investment in physical gold and silver, this product is not the most cost-effective choice.
Investment score: A C-label means that this is a less favorable investment choice compared to a product with a higher investment score. Products with a C-label are considered collectibles.
