Information

Gold 100,000 Lire coin

The gold 100,000 Lire coin, on the occasion of the approaching Holy Year 2000. This is an official commemorative coin within the series “TOWARDS THE HOLY YEAR” of Pope John Paul II, in which prominent basilicas in Rome are central.

The coin is made of 22 carat gold (.917) and weighs 15 grams. On the obverse we see Pope John Paul II at the Holy Door, with the Latin inscription “IOANNES PAVLVS II PMAXX.MCMXCVIII A.MM IVBILAEO ADVENIENTE”. The reverse shows a detailed image of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore with the text “CITTA' DEL VATICANO – L.100000 – and the year”.

Due to the relatively low mintage and the religious-historical character, this coin is very popular with both collectors and investors in precious metals. With its 15 grams of 22 carat gold, this is also a valuable and tangible piece of papal history.

Investment score

Products with a C-rating are primarily valued for their collectible characteristics. This may include limited editions, unique designs, or historical significance. As a result, their price is often less closely tied to the underlying metal value. These products are typically chosen by collectors rather than investors focused on efficiency.

Label information
A-label

Products with an A-rating are among the most commonly traded and liquid options available. These coins and bars offer a strong balance between a competitive price per gram and a low spread, making them well-suited for investors who want to acquire physical gold or silver efficiently. Due to their global recognition, they are typically easy to buy and sell.

B-label

C-label

Products with a C-rating are primarily valued for their collectible characteristics. This may include limited editions, unique designs, or historical significance. As a result, their price is often less closely tied to the underlying metal value. These products are typically chosen by collectors rather than investors focused on efficiency.
