Double Gold Ducat 2025
The Double Gold Ducat 2025 is the latest edition in a centuries-old tradition of prestigious Dutch trade coins. Issued by the Royal Dutch Mint and minted in 98.3% pure gold with a weight of 6.988 grams, this coin is a true work of art and a valuable investment. Centuries-
Dutch history
The origins of the Gold Ducat date back to the 13th century in Venice, but from the 16th century the coin was also minted in the Netherlands. The Double Gold Ducat grew into a symbol of Dutch trading power and was known for its reliability in weight and gold content. To this day, both the single and double ducats are issued annually on behalf of the Ministry of Finance, to keep the rich Dutch trading past alive.
Unique design and craftsmanship
The obverse of the Double Gold Ducat shows a knight with sword and sheaf of arrows, dressed in detailed armor. The double dotted border on the outside distinguishes the double variant from the single ducat. The Latin motto “Concordia Res Parvae Crescunt” – Unity makes small things great – adorns the border, together with the year 2025.
The reverse bears the text “Mo. Aur. Reg. Belgii Ad Legem Imperii” (Gold coin of the Kingdom of the Netherlands according to the law of the Empire), surrounded by graceful acanthus decorations, shells and an image of cinnamon sticks. This detail refers to the rich trading history of the VOC, which dominated the cinnamon trade in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Investment score
This product has a B-label (Common bullion coins and bars). This means that it is a common coin or bar that is easily tradable worldwide. However, a product with this label is more expensive than a product with an A-label, so as an investment in physical gold and silver, this product is not the most cost-effective choice. Examples of coins with a B-label are coins with a lower mintage.
