Information
The Beemster Tenner
Since 2012, the Netherlands has been honoring its UNESCO World Heritage with special commemorative coins. In 2024, the honor will be given to the historic De Beemster polder, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary as a UNESCO World Heritage site this year. The Beemster tenner in gold is part of this prestigious series and is the eighth issue in the series.
A tribute to Dutch water management
The Beemster is a textbook example of Dutch ingenuity: a 17th-century polder, created by draining the Beemstermeer with mills and creating a neatly divided polder landscape. This unique symbiosis between nature and technology is central to both the coin and the accompanying packaging. The design shows a symbolic cross-section of the landscape, with a mill and dike holding back the water – a constant reminder that most of the Netherlands lies below sea level.
Artistic approach by Katrin Korfmann
The design is by the German artist Katrin Korfmann, who lives in Amsterdam and who also designed the Schokland Vijfje (2018). Her style emphasizes the tension between the organic nature and the geometric human intervention. The front shows an abstract but recognizable profile of King Willem-Alexander, with deeper elements as a subtle reference to the lower Beemstermeer.

Investment score
This product has a C-label (Collectibles). This means it is a less favorable investment choice compared to a product with a higher investment score. We consider products with a C-label to be collectibles. These are often coins minted in limited quantities, with luxury packaging and a unique theme.
Label informationAn A-label means that this is one of our most common products. When purchasing physical precious metals, we advise looking at both the lowest price per gram and the lowest spread. The spread indicates the difference between the buying and selling price. An A-label signifies that this is a favorable choice when buying gold and silver.
B-label means that this is a common coin or bar, which is widely tradable worldwide. However, a product with this label is more expensive than a product with an A-label, so as an investment in physical gold and silver, this product is not the most cost-effective choice.
C-label means that this is a less favorable investment choice compared to a product with a higher investment score. Products with a C-label are considered collectibles.
