Information

Smallest fractional gold Maple Leaf coin

The 1/20 troy ounce (1.555 gram) coin is the smallest fractional coin of the gold Maple Leaf coins and therefore it is interesting for investors or savers with a small budget. The coin with a diameter of 14 mm, is popular as an investment coin across the globe despite its low weight. The high gold content of 99.99% pure gold in combination with the added security features, ensures that this coin is well tradable.

Advanced techniques on the 1/20 troy ounce gold Maple Leaf are directly incorporated into the coin's design, which not only provides a beautiful and complex design, but also contributes to the security of the coin. The radial lines are very difficult to replicate and add an extra layer of protection against forgery.

We deliver coins from the year 2024. These coins are newly minted and are purchased directly from official distributors of The Royal Canadian Mint.

Gold Maple Leaf series

The Canadian Maple Leaf series was first issued in 1979. At that time, only the 1 troy ounce was available to investors. A couple years later the smaller denominations followed, including the smallest fractional coin: the 1/20 troy ounce gold Maple Leaf coin. The Maple Leaf series has since become one of the most popular and globally recognised series among the gold investment coins. The Maple Leaf is also issued as a 1 troy ounce, 1/2 troy ounce, 1/4 troy ounce and 1/10 troy ounce gold coin. In addition, the Maple Leaf is also available as a silver and platinum 1 troy ounce investment coin.

The gold Maple Leaf was the first investment coin that met the highest standard of 99.99% purity. The famous maple leaf, the national symbol of Canada, has adorned the obverse of the coin since its introduction, making the design simple yet elegant.

Investment score

A B-rating indicates products that are still widely recognized and tradable worldwide, often issued by reputable mints or refiners. However, the price per gram or spread is generally slightly higher compared to A-rated products. While still suitable for investment purposes, they are not the most cost-efficient option available.

Label information
A-label

Products with an A-rating are among the most commonly traded and liquid options available. These coins and bars offer a strong balance between a competitive price per gram and a low spread, making them well-suited for investors who want to acquire physical gold or silver efficiently. Due to their global recognition, they are typically easy to buy and sell.

B-label

C-label

Products with a C-rating are primarily valued for their collectible characteristics. This may include limited editions, unique designs, or historical significance. As a result, their price is often less closely tied to the underlying metal value. These products are typically chosen by collectors rather than investors focused on efficiency.
