An herbivore clearly native to Australia, the Koala Bear is not a bear at all, but a marsupial. Like kangaroos, koalas have a pouch to carry their offspring. However, Koalas can climb trees while Kangaroos cannot. Koalas eat eucalyptus leaves daily and their bodies use a great deal of energy to process them, as the leaves are normally poisonous. Therefore, koalas often wake up for only two hours or less for most of the day!

Design silver koala coin

The face of the coin depicts a sleepy koala nestled among the branches of a eucalyptus tree. The koala and outer rim of the coin is made in 22-karat pink gold. The inscription 'AUSTRALIAN KOALA', the Perth Mint's traditional 'P' mintmark, the 2021 year date and weight and purity are also incorporated into the design.

The reverse of the coin shows Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the face value of the coin.

Packaging

The coin is struck with an extra deep blank to show the beautifully detailed high relief design. The coin is housed in a classic display box with a transparent lid. Packaged in an illustrated package, each coin is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
