Design of the Van Gogh coin

The obverse of the Van Gogh coin features the last letter that Van Gogh wrote to his brother Theo. In the corner of the obverse of the coin is a small etching of the portrait of Dr. Gachet engraved. On the reverse of the Van Gogh coin is a replica of the portrait of Dr. Gachet, painted by Van Gogh, displayed. This image shows through a high relief a 3D and lifelike image of Dr. Gachet. The Van Gogh coin exactly matches the original portrait and even the drooping eyes and tiredness of the doctor can be seen.
