Design Mexican Libertad 2022

The Mexican Libertad 2 troy ounce coins have a unique design with historical references and special features. The obverse of the coin features an image of the "Winged Victory", the Mexican angel of independence. This angel is inspired by the Column of Independence, found in Mexico City. Behind the angel are two well-known Mexican volcanoes Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl and the 'M' mint mark of La Casa Moneda de Mexico shown.

The history of Mexico is also incorporated into the design on the reverse side of the coin. The centre of the coin features the coat of arms of Mexico: a Mexican eagle fighting a snake from a cactus, together with the text "Estados Unidos Mexicanos", translated: United Mexican States'. Surrounding this are ten historical coats of arms, which have been used since 1820.

The Mexican Libertad coins - issued since 1982 - are unique because there is no fixed nominal value (face value) engraved on the coin. Unlike many other silver and gold coins from sovereign mints, the Mexican Libertad has a variable nominal value, depending on current market conditions.
