The design of the second coin in the Ice Age series pays tribute to the Mammoth, the magnificent animal that once inhabited the icy steppes of what is now Canada. The size and strength of the mammoth are beautifully portrayed in the design which, at more than three meters high at the shoulder and with a weight of as much as 8 tons, formed an impressive image in the landscape of the Ice Age. The long, curved tusks, which are unmistakable as fossils from Canada's Ice Age, are a prominent feature of the design.
On the obverse of the coin is a depiction of a woolly mammoth on an impressive view with its characteristic long and curved tusks. The mammoth is detailed to capture the rough fur and the powerful appearance of the animal. The rim of the coin bears the year 2024, the silver content 9999 and the country of issue CANADA.
On the reverse of the coin is depicted King Charles III. The beautifully detailed portrait of the king of the United Kingdom is surrounded by several inscriptions, such as the face value of 10 DOLLARS, his name CHARLES III and the letters D. G. REX (the Latin abbreviation for “by the grace of God, king”).
