Design of the coin

The obverse side of the coin is the design of the Falcon of Plantagenets. The shield in the grip of the large falcon shows a smaller falcon atop a lock, which is partially open. This depicts Edward's claim to the throne. The falcon was later adopted by Henry VIII and established as a royal beast during the reign of Elizabeth I. On the reverse side is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth with a face value of 10 Pounds.
