Design of the silver Medusa coin
Obverse
The obverse shows a replica of Caravaggio's painting: Medusa. On the obverse you see Medusa being killed by the demigod Perseus. Medusa was once a woman, but the goddess Athena cursed her. Her hair turned into snakes and anyone who looked at her would turn to stone. The coin has proof quality, which creates a beautiful contrast between relief and background.
Reverse
The reverse shows the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Brank-Broadley.
