To mark the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, The Royal Mint have released an exclusive bullion coin range. The obverse of the coin features John Bergdahl's design with His Majesty the King's royal code. The reverse shows the first crowned coin portrait of King Charles III, designed by Martin Jennings.
The coin contains 31.103 grams of 99.9% fine silver and has a diameter of 38.61 mm. The coin has a face value of 2 pounds and comes in a coin capsule. The worldwide mintage is limited to 1.500.000 pieces.

Design of the silver Coronation King Charles III coin
Obverse
The obverse of this 1 troy ounce silver coin shows the royal code of His Majesty the King, designed by John Bergdahl. At the bottom right you can see the inscription JB – the initials of the designer. In addition, you will see the inscription appearing several times around the coin with the text THE CORONATION OF KING CHARLES III 6 MAY 2023 1 OZ FINE SILVER 999 – which stands for: the coronation of King Charles III May 6 2023 1 troy ounce pure silver 99.9%.
Reverse
The reverse of this 1 troy ounce silver coin features the first crowned coin portrait of King Charles III, designed by Martin Jennings. In the lower right corner of the portrait you can see the inscription MJ - the initials of the designer. All around are the inscriptions 2 POUNDS – the face value of the coin, 2023 – the year of issue, CHARLES III – the name of the king and D.G. REX F.D. – the Latin abbreviation for by the grace of God, King.
