Big Five 2023: the leopard
This silver collectible 1 troy ounce coin is struck in 99,9% pure silver and is in BU condition. This coin issued by the South African Mint is part of their popular Big Five series. The special feature of this coin is the beautiful double-sided design starring a leopard.
The leopard, also known as a panther, is part of the African Big Five. This predator lives across much of Africa and Asia. Other animals from the Big Five include the rhino, elephant, lion and buffalo.

Obverse
The obverse of this impressive collectible coin features the head of a leopard. In the detailed reproduction, the whiskers and fur are clearly visible. Below the leopard is the text SOUTH AFRICA and BIG FIVE 2023 shown. South African’s coat of arms has also been added in the center of the coin.
Reverse
The reverse of the coin shows two half heads of a leopard. Placing two coins side by side, the heads together form one head of a leopard. Also added in the center of the coin is the face value of the coin FIVE RAND, the weight 1 OZ and the silver content Ag 999.
Presented in blister packaging
The 1 troy ounce silver Big Five leopard 2023 is packaged individually in a specially designed blister pack including a certificate of authenticity. The coin itself is protected by a coin capsule embedded in the packaging. There is no need to remove the coin from the packaging to admire it.
The front of the packaging features the same image of the leopard that can also be seen on the coin, but in color. Because the front of the coin is visible on the front of the packaging, the similarities between the coin and the packaging are beautifully visible.
