Information

George and Dragon coin 2024 of 1 troy ounce of pure gold

The gold George and Dragon coin is the first of a new series from The Royal Mint and depicts a knight fighting a dragon. This gold coin contains 99.99% pure gold and has a diameter of 32.69 mm. The coin's design is inspired by the legend of St. George and his fight with a dragon.

The fight between St. George and the dragon has been a regular feature of mythology and British coinage for hundreds of years. According to the story, the dragon initially demanded an estimate from a village. When the livestock and valuables ran out, they began to offer a human sacrifice each year. This arrangement was acceptable to the villagers until a princess was chosen as the next sacrifice. Then Saint George intervened, saving the princess and defeating the dragon.

Investment score

This product has a B-label (Common bullion coins and bars). This means that it is a common coin or bar that is easily tradable worldwide. However, a product with this label is more expensive than a product with an A-label, so as an investment in physical gold and silver, this product is not the most cost-effective choice. Examples of coins with a B-label are coins with a lower mintage.

Label information
Investment-score: A-label

Investment score: An A-label means that this is one of our most common products. When purchasing physical precious metals, we advise looking at both the lowest price per gram and the lowest spread. The spread indicates the difference between the buying and selling price. An A-label signifies that this is a favorable choice when buying gold and silver.

Investment-score: B-label
