Gold Australian Emu 2025

Obverse

The obverse of the coin is a beautiful tribute to Australian wildlife, showing an adult emu – one of Australia’s national symbols – along with five chicks, walking across a detailed desert landscape beneath a sunlit sky. The background features typical Australian plants and sand textures, creating a vibrant, lifelike impression.

Key inscriptions on the reverse include:

  • AUSTRALIAN EMU (series and species name)
  • 2025 (year of mintage)
  • 1 oz 9999 GOLD (weight and gold fineness)
  • P (The Perth Mint’s mintmark, a symbol of authenticity and provenance)

Additionally, a micro-laser-engraved security marking is visible only under magnification.

Reverse

The reverse of the Australian Emu 2025 features the official portrait of King Charles III, which was adopted following the succession of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022. Designed by Dan Thorne, the portrait shows the monarch in profile facing left, without the crown, in keeping with the modern portrait style of Australian coinage.

Surrounding the portrait are the following inscriptions:

  • CHARLES III (the name of the monarch)
  • AUSTRALIA (issuing country)
  • 100 DOLLARS (face value of the coin)

This side emphasises the coin’s legal tender status under the Currency Act 1965 and marks an important era in British and Australian numismatics. The design was officially approved by His Majesty King Charles III.

The 2025 Australian Emu has a worldwide mintage of only 5,000 pieces. The coin comes in its original protective capsule.

Investment score

This product has a B-label (Common bullion coins and bars). This means that it is a common coin or bar that is easily tradable worldwide. However, a product with this label is more expensive than a product with an A-label, so as an investment in physical gold and silver, this product is not the most cost-effective choice. Examples of coins with a B-label are coins with a lower mintage.
