1 kilo silver coin lunar Ox 2009

The year 2009 is the year of the Ox according to the Chinese era. That is why there is an image of two oxen on the obverse of the coin. These coins weigh 1 kilo and contain 99.9% pure silver. These silver kilo coins are technically less expensive than silver bars from a VAT point of view. That is why the Lunar coins are very popular among investors who want to invest in physical silver.

Lunar coins

The Lunar series is based on the Chinese era, where each year is dedicated to a specific animal. The animal in question is used for the design of that year's coin. This Chinese era has 12 years. The first Lunar coin was issued in 1998, which means that this series came to an end after 2010. That is why it was decided in 2007 to strike the remaining coins from 2008, 2009, and 2010 that year.

On the obverse of the Lunar coins is an image of the year of the relevant year, on the reverse an image of Queen Elizabeth II.

Lunar kilo coins are a suitable alternative to silver kilo bars and the annually changing design also plays a form of collectible value.
