This 1.5 kilogram silver coin (99.9%) is dedicated to the 500th death anniversary of the famous Italian Renaissance artist and architect, Raphael. The coin is made from a full block of silver, has an impressive coloring and comes in a themed box along with the Certificate of Authenticity.
The obverse of the coin features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The reverse of the coin shows the shield row ''Sistine Madonna'' depicting a vision. In the center of the painting, the Virgin is walking towards the earth with the Christ Child in her arms. Pope Sixtus II shows her the way. On the right side, Saint Barbara can be seen. Two saints were venerated on the main altar of the monastery church of San Sisto in Piacenza, which is why the artist included them in the painting. The two cute cherubs sitting on the balustrade at the bottom of the painting were added by Raphael at the very end of the painting process, mainly for compositional reasons.
