This design features the Lion of England - one of the oldest and most iconic beasts in heraldry. It first appeared on royal emblems in the twelfth century and has been part of the shield of England for as long as it has existed. Chosen to represent pride and bravery, the Lion of England on the Moat Bridge at Hampton Court Palace holds a shield with the impaled - or combined - arms of Henry VIII and Jane Seymour, symbolizing the strength of the couple's union.
On the reverse is the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, along with the face value of £25.
These 2022 1/4 oz gold British Tudor Beasts Lion Coins are available individually in flips. Multiples come in plastic tubes of 25 coins or Monster Boxes of 500 coins. All coins are in brilliant, uncirculated condition. The Lion of England design is the first BU coin issue in the Tudor Beasts series.
