Obverse
On both the obverse and reverse of this beautiful gold coin, the elephant takes center stage. The obverse of the coin features the highly detailed frontal image of an African elephant. The coat of arms of South Africa also appears on the obverse along with the inscriptions, "SOUTH-AFRICA" and "BIG FIVE."
Reverse
The reverse of the coin also features an effigy of an elephant, but in a unique way: instead of depicting one entire head, two half heads are depicted.
