The obverse of this year's gold panda coins features two adorable giant pandas in a tree. The two pandas are displayed in a tree among leaves. The pandas appear to be climbing towards each other. The face value, weight in grams and gold content of the coin are also shown on this side.
The reverse side of the gold panda coins has shown the same design for years, namely a beautiful image of the Temple of Heaven. This famous Beijing temple is an important prayer hall for the Chinese. Around the effigy, the name of China in Chinese characters and the year of issue are also shown.
Different weights of the Panda series
The gold panda coins of the China Gold Coin Corporation are issued in different weights. While most mints opt for 1 troy ounce (31.103 grams) coins and smaller denominations of these, the Chinese mint has opted for different weights in 2016. The gold panda coins are available in coins of 1 gram, 3 grams, 8 grams, 15 grams and 30 grams.
