This coin is struck to celebrate the 825th anniversary of the Austrian Mint. This coin is the first issue of a 3-coin series which describe the most important events for the Austrian Mint.
In 1192, King Richard of England was taken prisoner by Duke Leopold V. The huge amount of silver that Leopold received after releasing the King was the start of the legend of Robin Hood. Leopold used almost all silver coins to build Wiener Neustadt and the Mint in Vienna.
These coins have a limited mintage of only 100,000 coins and contain 1 troy ounce fine silver.
On the obverse Duke Leopold V is portayed. On the reverse a knight on horseback is depicted, symbolizing the crusades of Leopold V. The year of issue, weight and face value (1.50 Euros) are depicted on the reverse too.
